The Marketing Manager is primarily
responsible for building awareness and driving attendees (business
professionals) to our conferences and events, including the
Engage! Expo and the
Virtual Worlds Expo.
Subjects covered at Engage! include virtual goods
(micro-transactions), youth-oriented virtual worlds, 3D Web
advertising and licensing strategies, immersive internet training
and collaboration. This is a full time position located in our Cedar
Park office.

A virtual world (as
per wikipedia) is a computer-based simulated environment
intended for its users to inhabit and interact via avatars. These
avatars are usually depicted as two-dimensional, or
three-dimensional graphical representations. Examples include Second
Life, Webkinz, World of Warcraft, Club Penguin, Habbo Hotel,
Nicktropolis, Google Lively, Barbie Girls, etc...
About the Position
Specifically, the Marketing Manager
will be tasked with executing online marketing campaigns, including
acting as a liaison with our media partners, managing email
promotions, email newsletters, banner advertising campaigns, direct
mail campaigns, creating marketing copy and editorial, participating
in blog discussions and performing various related duties.
Additionally responsibilities include drafting and sending out press
releases, pitch letters, responding to press inquires, following up
with media outlets, maintaining PR database, responding to editors
and writers requests, and researching Blogs and other online
outlets.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Director of Marketing
to create, implement and manage marketing efforts.
- Write marketing copy for event web sites, email newsletters, third
party web sites and direct email campaigns
- Participate in community discussions on relevent blogs and
community web sites
- Manage our media partners in developing and executing their online
marketing initiatives.
- Write press releases and maintain regular contact with the media
Qualifications (required):
- 3-5 years marketing experience
- Writing - Must be able to write sales and marketing copy, customer
communications, press releases, and business-development proposals.
Excellent writing skill and attention to detail.
- Autonomy Must be able to complete tasks, set deadlines, and
achieve goals with a high level of autonomy. Must be willing and
able to hit the ground running. Our dynamic and growing company is
very busy, so you have to be able to make important decisions
quickly, multi-task seamlessly, and prioritize many projects at
once, with little day-to-day management.
- Software - Must be proficient in MS Office products.
- Strong communication Skills
- Manage direct mail campaigns
Desired Skills - but not necessary
- Familiarity and/or understanding of
virtual worlds such as Second Life, Habbo, World of Warcraft, etc...
- User of Web 2.0 technologies and community behaviors
